I vividly remember sitting at dinner with friends, pretending to be present while secretly agonizing over the menu, trying to fit my macros into MyFitnessPal under the table.
And then...bam, I tore my ACL in a college soccer game. This changed the trajectory of my entire fitness journey.
TERROR entered my body. My first thought wasn't, "What do I have to do to heal this injury?" it was, "What if I gain weight because I can’t workout? that'd be my worst nightmare."
 But for the first time in my life, I was forced to slow down.
Instead of pushing play on a HIIT workout in an attempt to burn calories, I instead had to make my way to the gym and rebuild strength to recover from this injury.Â
And even though I was scared and hesitant about my weight still, I started noticing that I slept better at night, felt stronger, and started to see definition in my arms and legs for the first time!Â
More than that, I felt a quiet confidence I'd never experienced before.
Strength training became my anchor in the chaos of life, teaching me resilience, patience, and the power of showing up.
I realized that just like when I was an athlete---my training, nutrition, and recovery were all interconnected.
Prioritizing my recovery wasn’t just optional, it was essential to support my nervous system, mental health, and overall well-being.
